What You’ll Learn

Beginner drum students start with the essentials: reading drum set notation, counting rhythms, and mastering basic beats. As students progress, they’ll learn to play their favorite songs and even have opportunities to collaborate with other musicians in a group setting. For example, we frequently pair drum students with guitar students who have learned the same songs, giving them the chance to play in a band-like environment.

Performances and Recitals

We host occasional concerts for parents and family members, where students can showcase their progress and play alongside others.

No Drum Set? No Problem!

Beginner students don’t need to invest in a drum set right away. A practice pad, which is inexpensive and portable, is all they need to start. We provide drum sets in our Indianapolis drum lesson studio, so students only need to bring drumsticks, which are available here for just $5 per set.

Concerned About Noise?

Modern technology makes practicing quieter than ever. Here are a few ways to keep sound levels low:

1. Use practice pads.

2. Add mute pads to drums and cymbals.

3. Invest in an electronic drum set, which offers the sound and feel of a traditional set while allowing practice with headphones.

How Long Does It Take to Learn?

Every student progresses at their own pace, but most beginners can play rhythms, drum fills, and a few songs within a few months. Many students continue lessons for years, as there’s always something new to learn on the drums!

Drum lessons are available:
Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
